Objective testing, complete evaluation, and individualized treatment

Actual Alevea Testing Room
Your test takes place in a private testing room at Alevea Mental Health in Tempe. The TOVA is completed on a computer and takes approximately 20 minutes.
No studying or special preparation is required. You will receive simple instructions before beginning, and an Alevea team member will be available if you have questions.
What to Expect
The TOVA provides useful attention data, but it is only one part of determining whether ADHD or another condition may explain the concerns being evaluated.
Free TOVA test with scheduled follow-up evaluation. Insurance benefits may apply to the evaluation.

The computerized test measures aspects of attention and inhibitory control, including response time, response consistency, and impulsive responding.
After testing, complete a psychiatric evaluation with an Alevea provider. Depending on availability and clinical requirements, the appointment may be offered in person or through telemedicine for eligible Arizona patients.
Your provider will review the TOVA findings alongside your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, sleep, functioning, and other relevant information.
If a diagnosis is appropriate, your provider will explain the findings and discuss individualized treatment options. Treatment may include medication, behavioral strategies, counseling, lifestyle changes, additional testing, or other recommendations.
Medication is never guaranteed and is prescribed only when clinically appropriate.
Objective Attention Data
TOVA stands for Test of Variables of Attention. It is an FDA-cleared computerized medical device used by healthcare professionals to aid in the assessment of attention deficits, including ADHD.
Unlike a symptom questionnaire, the TOVA measures performance during a structured attention task. It can provide objective information that helps a qualified clinician understand patterns involving attention and inhibitory control.

Some adults reach college, enter demanding careers, become parents, or take on greater responsibilities before recognizing persistent difficulties with attention or executive functioning.
Adults seeking an ADHD evaluation may report concerns involving:
Experiencing some of these difficulties does not automatically mean someone has ADHD. A complete evaluation helps determine whether ADHD, another condition, or a combination of factors may be contributing.
Difficulty with attention, organization, memory, task completion, or impulsivity can have several possible causes. ADHD is one possibility, but similar concerns can also be associated with other psychiatric, medical, sleep-related, or situational factors.
That is why Alevea combines objective TOVA results with a complete psychiatric evaluation. The goal is not simply to produce a score—it is to understand the full clinical picture and recommend appropriate next steps.
Alevea’s process connects objective testing, clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing treatment within one psychiatric practice.
